Julia Tamminen

The harpsichordist and organist Julia Tamminen, born in Belarus, studied the organ at the Sibelius Academy for professor Olli Porthan and Markku Hietaharju, and the harpsichord for Anssi Mattila, Elina Mustonen and Assi Karttunen. In addition to that she also studied musicology at the Rimski-Korsakov conservatory in St. Petersburg. With the support from the Finnish Cultural Foundation she has complemented her organ and harpsichord studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and graduated with a master’s degree in music in 2018. Tamminen has successfully participated in organ competitions and played concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in both Finland and around Europe. She is also one of the founders of the early music ensemble Un’altra ondata and plays in several other early music ensembles. At the moment she works as a harpsichord teacher at Turku Conservatory and Institute of Music, and as the cantor of the Martinseurakunta congregation in Turku.
